I’ve been set adrift on memory bliss this week because Beverly Farms Elementary School, located in Potomac, Maryland, is being renovated. From the nurses office to the all-purpose room to the gym, the place has remained creepily untouched by the hands of time since my salad days there from 1985-1991. I’ve enjoyed popping in occasionally over the years to get a sweet hit of memory dope.
In 2003, my older sister and her family moved into a house on the same street as my childhood home, where our parents still live. It’s only a few miles from the school, so now my niece and nephew go to Beverly Farms. A few months ago my sister told me that an “open house” event was in the works, something to give former students and teachers a chance to say goodbye to the place before they level it. That open house was on Tuesday. You bet I went.
It was memorygasmic on so many levels! They let you walk through all the classrooms! Everything is exactly the same but so much smaller! And with more computers! A lot of my old teachers were there! Pro tip: they all seem to prefer the term “former teacher.”
I will be sharing some photos from my visit today.

Getting in the mood for TOP THAT! A Teen Witch Sing-Along Screening Party (Free!) this Thursday 6/9 at 7pm.
You can see a couple of photos from last week’s nostagery show here. Those Snuffy shirts are available for purchase.
What are your favorite witchy movies and TV shows of the 80s and early 90s?
I have the flu and I can’t remember anything right now. The school nurse sent me home. I will be back with more memories later this week.
